KTCCI bans plastic within Kiphire

Dimapur, Jan. 7 (EMN): Kiphire Town Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KTCCI) has banned the sale and use of polythene bags within Kiphire town. The initiative was taken as a part of ‘Safe Environment and Kiphire—Polythene free town.’

A press note from the group informed that KTCCI had its general session on Dec. 9 2018 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall in Kiphire, along with the officials and members of the business establishments. During the meeting, the decision was passed to ban polythene bags within Kiphire town, starting from Jan. 1 2019.

“The KTCCI shall impose a stringent action against any defaulter. Whereas, any packages used in place of plastics or polythene bags by the business establishments should be done only through the authorisation from KTCCI,” the update stated.

The update mentioned that the chairman of KTCCI, T Litingse Sangtam, spoke about the role of the business community as being vital for the economic growth of the district and the state. He said maintaining a cordial relationship within the business community, along with the stakeholders and citizens of Kiphire will lead foster the district towards over all development.

Sangtam further acknowledged the contribution of the district administration, business establishments, civil society, and individuals who coordinated and worked for the relief cause of Kiphire, when the district was facing acute shortage of daily needs due to the monsoon rain and consequent road cut-off in 2018.

The press note informed that the cleanliness drive, which was carried out on the last Sat. of every month, as initiated in 2017-18 shall also be carried out in 2019-20. The cleanliness drive for the month of January 2019 has been scheduled on Jan. 19 2019 from 6:00 am to 8:00 am.
