KSA seeks clarification from KAAC on land issue

Diphu, June 12 (EMN): Karbi Students Association (KSA) president, Thangsing Timung has served a one-week ultimatum to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) authority to find out the persons involved in selling 100 bighas of Karbi Anglong land at Naharjan to the Nagas in Assam-Nagaland inter-state border.

A post went viral in social media on Friday claiming that 100 bighas of land at Nahorjan was sold to one Lengri Ao by KAAC with the signature of joint secretary, department of Revenue, KAAC. “The authority of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Diphu is pleased to allot a plot of land measuring an area of 100B-0K-0L covered by Dag No.10 at village Nahorjan Block No.1 under Jamunapar Mouza of Diphu Land Revenue Circle for establishment of Lengri Ao s/o Lepdon Ao on payment of land allotment fee of INR 10,00,000/-(Rupees ten lakh) only vide receipt No.1430/17 on Date: 18-01-2021”, the post read.

Immediately on Friday, the executive member (EM) KAAC, in charge of Land and Revenue, Amarsing Tisso clarified on social media that the land documents obtained by Lengri Ao was a fake one and denied selling the land to Lengri Ao by the KAAC authority.

In this regard, KSA called a press conference at KSA office Rongthe-ang on Saturday. The president, Thangsing Timung said the land documents obtained by Lengri Ao has the same dag no., block no. and date of payment of for an amount of INR 10 lakh allotted to one Angelina Yanthan, d/o L Myingthungo Yanthan.

‘It is difficult to determine which land document is fake and which is genuine,’ he said.

‘If KAAC has not sold the land then, who have sold the 100 bighas of Karbi Anglong land to the Nagas. Is it the mandals and Assistant Revenue officers, who are involved in producing fake land documents in order to sell the land? We want to know who has sold the land to the Nagas and we are giving a one-week time to the KAAC to find out the persons involved in it. If any of the individuals of KAAC authority found involved in selling land then we appeal the authority should take the action against him’ Timung further stated.
