Our Correspondent Diphu, July 26 (EMN): Simeon Rongphar faction of the Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), has sought apology from the principal of Diphu Government College, Dr. Nirab Kr Sarma, for using the word ‘hooligan’ directing towards its president, Rongphar, and blaming the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) authority for the interference in the internal matters of the college. Addressing a press conference held here at KSA office on Thursday, KSA president Rongphar has accused the DGC’s principal Dr. Sarma’s of using unparliamentary words pointing towards its president while dispatching officials letter to the state principal secretary through the college official mail-principaldgc@gmail.com. “In a letter sent to principal secretary, Government of Assam, Ajay Tiwari, through DGC official mail, the principal Dr. Sarma on July 1 had used some derogatory words even to the extent of calling me as ‘hooligan.’ Such unparliamentary word used by Dr. Sarma, who is occupying the seat of principal of the college has lost his morality and behaving in a shameless attitude.” Rongphar further stated that in the same letter to Tiwari, the principal had informed of ‘repeated undue interference in the internal matters of the college by KAAC.” “With the signing of MoU in 1995, an additional power was given to KAAC from state government and upto to college level. By the MoU, KAAC has the sole authority to intervene into the affairs of the college as it is within its jurisdiction. What Dr. Sarma has uttered blaming the KAAC for getting in the internal affairs of the college is totally wrong,” he said. KSA, Simeon Rongphar faction, has been demanding that many students who are from poor background should be absorbed during admission. They were also against the sudden hike in admission fees for the academic session 2018-19. KAAC had intervened into it regarding the fee structure and after a three party discussion of KAAC authority, KSA leaders and principal, DGC, a relaxation of admission fee structure came down to a certain level.
