KSA holds rally against reservation of seats to KAAC
Diphu, Sep. 15 (EMN): Karbi Students’ Association (KSA -Semson Teron faction) carried out a rally at Dongkamukam, West Karbi Anglong in protest against the recently signed peace agreement between the six armed organisations of Karbi Anglong and Central and Assam government on September 4.
During the rally, members of KSA shouted slogans and burnt the peace accord of clause 2.3.
Speaking to media persons, KSA President Semson Teron said, ‘With the six arms organisations of Karbi Anglong and state and Central government have signed a peace agreement which we welcomed in Karbi Anglong, after this agreement there will prevail peace in Karbi Anglong. However, in the name of peace accord, clause 2.3 has mentioned about 10 seats to KAAC open for all communities in the Sixth Schedule area. We will protest for this reservation.’
Teron also mentioned, “We the KSA clearly stated that in the three hills districts of Assam like Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao fall under Sixth Schedule jurisdiction of the Indian constitution. The tribals are the owner of land, water and air in the sixth schedule district. All the properties under the sixth schedule area is the solely owner of the tribals. We have condemned the Central and Assam Government for insertion of clause 2.3 in the peace accord which 10 seat are open for all communities. There is a time to remove the clause 2.3 from the peace accord urge upon the central and state government. Sixth schedule has been guarantee by the Indian constitution it is not by us said, Teron.
‘We abide the sixth schedule of the Indian constitution and inside sixth schedule area no one can interfere with us and in the coming days we will never tolerate,’ Teron added.
