Kohima, Nov 17 (EMN): Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Neiba Kronu, today laid the foundation stone for construction of building of the Women SHG Federation, Pfutsero Block, and also launched the Block Mission Management Unit under NSRLM in Pfutsero.
Kronu, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the department officials for their tireless efforts. While citing example of some foreign countries where the SHG movement has become a success, he reminisced about the SHG scheme under NRLM, where he took personal initiative and convinced the government to implement the same in 2012.
He exhorted the gathering not to rely on government subsidy but work at grassroot level to augment their income. He highlighted the various developmental schemes initiated by the government which would directly/ indirectly benefit them. He also exhorted the gathering not to rest on today’s achievement but strive to make it a future asset for generations to come.
The keynote address was delivered by Azenuo Pienyu, Additional Mission Director, SRLM Nagaland, and short speeches were said by Razouvolie Dozo, Project Director, DRDA, and District Mission Manager SRLM, Phek.
The programme was chaired by Zhalie Puro, ADPM Phek, while the opening prayer was said by Dr. T Kapfo, pastor PTBC, and a welcome address was delivered by Kedutsou Kronu. A brief introduction was said by Wepretsou Kupa, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Veshetsholu and closing prayer said by Wetsholou Kapfo.
Altogether around 500 delegates from 185 SHGs under Pfutsero Block attended the programme. Besides, all HODs, VCCs, VDBs and public leaders were also present. The programme witnessed cultural presentation performed by Leshemi and Porba SHGs.
