Kronu inaugurates VDB building at Kütsapo

Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): Minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu, on April 27 inaugurated a VDB building at Kütsapo village in Phek district.

Village Development Board (VDB) was first formed on December 6, 1976, at Kütsapo village with the initiative of the then deputy commissioner of Phek, AM Gokhale, and was implemented throughout the state of Nagaland under the leadership of Vamuzo Phesao, former chief minister of Nagaland. The VDB Kütsapo, in remembrance of the two great leaders, constructed a two-storied building under MGNREGA 2017-2020.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister has described Kütsapo as a legendary village and urged upon the villagers to live upto good legacy of being the first VDB village in Nagaland. He also called upon the people to continue doing good deeds for others to follow the suit.

Kronu also challenged the people to focus more on human resource development for a progressive society, while he also asserted that agricultural activities is the sole area to boost the state’s economy. In this regard, he encouraged the people to  take coffee and cardamom plantation as well as other cash crops on a commercial scale saying the government is always to assist for market linkages.

Also speaking on the occasion, VDB secretary of Kütaapo, Vechikhoyi Lohe, highlighted the purpose and concept of the first VDB building. Speeches were also delivered by Razukhrü D Vasa, Phek DRDA project  director; NDPP candidate  Kupota Khesoh and former president of Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO), Sovenyi.

The  programme was chaired by Zashevezo Rhakho, while the welcome address was delivered by the chairman of Kutsapo village council, Shevotso Rhakho, and the vote of thanks was proposed by the first VDB secretary, Dukhüyi Vadeo.
