Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dimapur observes Kisan Diwas
DIMAPUR — National Farmers’ Day (Kisan Diwas) was observed on December 23 at the conference hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur, ICAR (RC) for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre.
According to a press release, Kisan Diwas, which also marks the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the fifth Prime Minister of India, was observed to pay respect to farmers and recognise them as the backbone of the country.
During the programme, farmers were also given certificates and inputs in recognition of their contribution to agriculture—Kheto Sema and Toshiho for paddy seed production, Zaren Michael and Kupuhe for integrated farming system, Kevizasenuo Kera of New Chümoukedima for piggery, and Tsunungbenla of Dimapur for mushroom production.
They all shared their farming experiences with the attendees during the event.
Dr. Phool Kumari, senior scientist, spoke about the importance of Kisan Diwas and appreciated the hard work of farmers, without whom food, nutrition, and livelihood security cannot be achieved.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Bendangla Imsong, assistant chief technical officer (plant breeding), and was attended by a total of 25 participants.
