Dimapur, Oct 22 (EMN): Kandi Public Union (KPU), comprising of six villages under Tseminyu sub-division, has warned to launched its first phase agitation by imposing 48 hours total bandh along the National Highway 2 from October 31 at 6 a.m. to November 1.
The decision to launch the total bandh was taken during its emergency meeting at Sishunu village council hall on October 21 with regard to BDO office construction for RD Block Chunlikha, the foundation stone for which was laid on November 29, 2012.
A press release issued by KPU secretary of information and secretary Khiyalo Kez stated that after a gap of 5 years, the State government issued the work order to M/s JK & Sons Constructions on November 11, 2016. It, however, alleged that the concerned contractor had failed to commence the construction work of RD Block Chunlikha BDO office building.
While stating that KPU had submitted several representations to the concerned authorities and the State government, it stated that KPU had, on October 6, 2017, submitted an ultimatum addressed to the minister for Rural Development with 15-day dateline to commence the construction work.
With the expiry of the deadline on October 21 and the failure of the State government to positively respond to its ultimatum, KPU has decided to launch phase wise agitation as a mark of resentment.
