DIMAPUR, JANUARY 17

THE Chairman of the Council of Naga Rengma Hills / Naga Rengma Hills Protection Force (CNRH/NRHPF) has alleged that the one sided approach adopted by the Assam government led by Tarun Gogoi amounts to ‘aiding and abetting the terrorist activities of the Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT) and its leader Rajen Engti Karbi”He was recently arrested by the Assam police the press release dated January 16, states.
It also says Rajen Engti was involved in the abduction and disappearance incident of Late Mr. Nzankheng Rengma on October 21, 2013 as revealed Mr. Deven Tisso and John Rangpar, arrested by Rengmas.
This indicates a hand in glove relation between Assam govt. and the KLPT the statement added.
The statement also goes on to state that the arrested persons had revealed that, “Karbis are determined and are all out to wage civil war with the Rengma in Assam in order to flush them out and grab their land.”
NRHPF also said its clearly known that the genesis of the ‘turmoil’ was created by the KPLT forces who are alleged to be armed to the teeth. It was the “KPLT who killed peace loving Rengmas” the statement adds. All this is being motivated by a utopian dream to attain a Karbi statehood through militant means at the expense of neighboring communities and explains the Karbi clash with ethnic groups since the 90’s, the statement added.
The statement also took a dig at what it alleged is opportunism by Karbis housed in relief camps with the displaced Rengmas. The perpetrators are only there to receive free relief material from the KAAC and Assam government, it said.
The CNRH/NRHPF warned marauding Karbis to restrain themselves completely pursuing what it termed “mischievous dreams of chasing out the land owners of Rengma Hills to form a Karbi Statehood” at the expense of the indigenous people of the land.
This the statement concludes will be an impossible dream.
