MOKOKCHUNG — The Mokokchung district administration on Tuesday directed strict adherence to the 48-hour silence period ahead of polling for the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency by-election, even as it reviewed preparedness with contesting candidates.
At a coordination meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Ajit Kumar Verma said all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling.
He urged candidates, their supporters and the public to extend full cooperation to the district election machinery and strictly comply with the provisions of the silence period and the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

The meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, the Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer and all contesting candidates.
The coordination meeting focused on enforcement of the mandatory silence period, during which campaigning and public canvassing are prohibited in the run-up to polling.
Polling for the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency is scheduled to be held on April 9.
