Kohima, May 5 (EMN): A new restaurant called ‘T&L’ (Terence and Lucy’s) and specialising in Korean cuisine, was inaugurated on May 4 at Pfütsero town in Phek district.
Proprietor of T&L Moparhu Genevi Dukru and her business partner, her sister Dzupalu Clara Dukru, dedicated the new restaurant to their parents.

Unlike many other restaurants filled with an almost the usual menu, “I wanted to introduce new food culture to the people,” Moparhu said.

‘While in college days, I worked as a part time waitress, at a Korean restaurant, and that’s when I learned to make basic Korean food,’ Dukhru said.

At the back of her mind, she always wanted to be an agent of change and contribute to the development of the town. She believes T&L will be able to contribute to the society in some way or the other. Except for a few sections, she said to be encouraged by a lot of people with her new venture.

Although the restaurant is not big enough to employ many people, she planned on employing two college students part-time and for three days each in a week). One cannot always depend on parents for petty expenses and ‘I want to help them earn their own pocket money,’ Dukhru said.

Despite the challenges that may come along the way, she is determined and “quite sure” to sustain her new restaurant in the long run. She hopes to be a successful entrepreneur someday.

The Pfutsero Town Trader’s Union’s President Zewete Mero said that about 80% of the registered traders, in the town, are ‘locals.’

There is a lot of business potential in the town, he said and encouraged similar entrepreneurs in the days to come. Visitors from outside the state not only come to the town to escape the heat, but to build business connections, Mero explained.

The price on the menu starts from INR 10. It also provides T&L special dishes on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Some of the Korean cuisines available are kimbap, spicy noodle, omurice, and ramyeon etc.
