DIMAPUR — With an aim to foster unity, peace and harmony, the Konyak Union (KU) on Friday convened a coordination meeting with all non-Konyak communities residing in Mon district namely Tenyimia Union Mon, Lotha Hoho Mon, Sangtam Community Mon, Muslim Community Mon, Sumi Union Mon, Yimkhiung Union Mon, Mon District Gorkha Welfare Society, Hindu Community Mon and Phom Union Mon at the KU Hall in Mon town.


Addressing the gathering, KU president, K Yamao Konyak, lauded all the representatives for their positive response and active participation. He acknowledged their presence in Mon district despite the prevailing challenges and difficulties, an update from KU stated.

He urged the members to freely share grievances or hardships faced by their respective communities to enable the union extend necessary support and assistance. He also urged those communities, who were unable to attend the consultative meeting, to duly inform the union through their respective community or union established in Mon district.


Besides, the union president appealed to every community to actively partake in all activities organised by the Konyak Union (KU), Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) and the district administration so as to foster better coordination, mutual understanding and harmonious relations within the district and among the Nagas at large.


The update stated that KU has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to ensure full cooperation and safeguard the welfare of all non-Konyak residents. Emphasising the importance of unity, the union assured its dedication to promoting peace, harmony and collective progress in the district, while it also sought continued cooperation of all non-Konyak communities and the Naga populace at large.


Meanwhile, the non-Konyak communities, while sharing their concerns, also extended their congratulations to the newly inducted KU team.
