Dimapur, March 20 (EMN): Konyak Students’ Union Kohima (KSUK) led by its president M Honli Konyak, is taking up a project to set up libraries in villages under Mon district.
Honli Konyak, who is the first woman president among the Konyak Students’ Union units, told Eastern Mirror that the project called “Education for all” is an education-based initiative taken up by the KSUK, focusing primarily on rural areas of Mon district.
Under this initiative, the Union aims to set up libraries in villages under Mon district, and seek book donations from various individuals and organisations to set up the planned library.
She said that through the initiative, KSUK wants to reach out to those students who are ‘book-hungry’ but are not able to have easy access to libraries.
‘The KSUK plans to hand over the library to the concerned union to take the steps forward and maintain the library for the benefit of its citizens, particularly students. The union also plans to take the initiative further by encouraging the next tenure of the union to carry the legacy further,’ she stated.
Honli Konyak was inducted as the president of KSUK in October 2021 and her three-year tenure will end in 2024. She informed that there are thousands of students enrolled in KSUK.
Sharing about being elected as the president of the union, Konyak said that she is privileged to be serving as the president.
“I have a passion and interest to work for the union. I was also a student leader in college, so I was interested and applied for the president post and got elected,” she said.
“Right now, serving as the president, I feel like it is a challenge but I am learning a lot through my experience and I am happy and privileged to be serving,” she added.
She shared that her main objective as the union president is to bring the students together through programmes and other activities.
Further, she advised the youngsters to ‘do what they love and love what they do’, and never give up. ‘There will be many discouragements and negativity but know what to choose in life,’ she said.
‘Once your time is over, no matter how much you want to do, you will not be able to do certain things, so when there is an opportunity and time, you have to do it,’ she added.
