Konyak Students’ Union condemns March 18, 2005 atrocities
DIMAPUR — Commemorating the 19th anniversary of two students who were allegedly killed by the NSCN (IM) on March 18, 2005, the Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has condemned the killing of the innocent students.
In a press release, the KSU reminded that the two were killed after the Konyak Union organised a peace rally on March 18, 2005 to protest against the factional clash between the NSCN (IM) and the NSCN (K) at Leangha village.
The KSU said that the two students – H Panglem Konyak, son of N Honkai Konyak and C Chahtai Konyak, son of Cheme-e Konyak of Totok Chingnyu village – were “kidnapped, tortured and mercilessly slain by the NSCN (IM)” after they took part in the protest.
“There is no point of time in the history of human struggle for freedom where the goal is achieved by such an act of brutality against its own people.
“Therefore, the Konyak Students’ Union while praying for the departed souls for eternal peace, also in its strongest term, condemns any such act of wickedness and factional killings among the Naga brothers then, now and even in the future,” the KSU said.
