DIMAPUR — The Konyak civil society organisations (CSOs) have served an official  summon to the president of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), N Chingwang Konyak for his “recent actions that have contravened the explicit directives set forth by the Konyak Union (KU)” on March 30.

The letter, dated April 6 and signed by the presidents of KU Tingthok Konyak, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) Ponglem Konyak, and Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) T Noklem Konyak, noted that the directives instructed all its citizens not to engage in commentary remarks on the ENPO FNT matter.

“However, it has come to our attention that you have, on multiple occasions, made unfavourable comments regarding the FNT issue,” it read, adding that Chingwang also made adverse remarks on April 5 at an election rally in Wokha.

“Your repeated disregard for the Eastern Nagaland (EN) community and the Konyaks in particular is totally unacceptable,” it said.

The letter alleged that his actions not only defied the authority of the Konyak CSOs but also brought disgrace and humiliation upon the entire EN community, particularly the Konyak people and that they were “unbecoming of a responsible citizen and a leader.”

“Therefore, you are hereby summoned to appear at the Konyak Union office at Mon Headquarters within 48 hours of receiving this notice to address the aforementioned violations and explain your actions,” it said, adding further that failure to comply will leave the Konyak CSOs with no option but to initiate stern disciplinary action against him.
