Dimapur, Dec. 5 (EMN): The Konyak civil societies led by Konyak Union (KU) on Monday concluded the Black Day, which was observed on December 4 and the 5th in memory of Oting incident victims, by organising a programme at KU Office in Mon town.

Lamenting the delay in justice delivery, the civil societies requested the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) to rigorously pursue the matter as it had taken up the case.

“The Konyak civil societies have faith and belief in the democratic principles of the state, expect that the judiciary system of the largest democratic country would deliver befitting justice,” read the press release from KU, adding that it had accepted ENPO’s ‘decision for peace and understanding with the Indian armed forces to pave ways for justice in a peaceful manner’.

The Konyak CSOs also appealed to the government of India to deliver justice to its citizens, stating that “a crime is a crime” and must be dealt as per the provisions of the law.

“Failing to deliver justice in order to save the morale of the men in uniform would mean a mockery of the very fabric of modern society,” it added.
