Komets, Orion FC enter quarters; Head Hunters into pre-quarters

Kohima Komets Sporting Club and Orion Football Club became the first two teams to move into the quarter-finals while Head Hunters moved into pre-quarters beating their respective rivals in today’s three matches of Classic Cup played at Kohima Local Ground.
Kohima Komets SC defeated Vision FC by two goals scored in the second half of the first pre-quarter final match.Neither sides managed to surpass their rival’s defence line in the first half ending in a disappointing goalless draw. But three minutes into breather half, Kohima Komets opened their account through K. Thopi while Kiwi Sumi doubled the margin to book berth for the quarter finals in the 42nd minute.
In the second pre-quarter final, Orion Football Club managed to overcome the Prege FC by 4-2 with Chiesie Nyusou scoring the eighth hat-trick of the tourney despite training with a solitary goal till the first 10 minutes of the game.
Prege FC opened their account in the 6th minute through Senyilo but Prege managed to find the equalizer in the 10th minute through Chiesie Nyusou to end the first half in 1-1 draw.
Returning in the second half, Orion FC took the lead in the 45th minute again through Nyusou but this time though Prege FC protested the goal being converted through an off-side the decision of the match referee and assistant referee remained unchanged. Prege FC got back to the game within next four minutes as Lhouviphrelie pounded the equalizer.
Nevertheless, last 13 minutes of the game favoured Orion as they found two more goals, the lead through Nyusou in the 57th minute making him the fifth person to have scored eight hat-tricks so far in the tourney while Thukho Rhi sealed the score board with the fourth for the team in the 69th minute of play.
Earlier, playing the last second round match, Head Hunters triumphed over Marvel FC by 4-0. Khampani scored first in the 8th minute followed by Tiakaba’s second in the 24th minute while Tiayanger’s scoring double (third and fourth) in the additional two-minutes of play.
