Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan on April 24 flagged off the ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan Special Campaign’ the at DC’s office in Kohima. Update received on Tuesday from DIPR informed.
Flagging off the 15 vehicles for carrying LED bulb to 58 targeted villages under Kohima district, the Deputy Commissioner said that the main objective of the programme was to promote ‘Unnat Jyoti’ through affordable LEDs for all (UJALA yojna). The campaign is also to conserve energy at home, office, commercial institutions by using energy efficient appliances and star labelled products which would result in significant reduction in monthly electricity bill as well as reduction in outages of power supply which is mainly due to over loading of existing transformers, distribution lines etc. causing unwanted power interruption.
DC impressed upon the beneficiaries to make use of the LED bulb to reduce the load on the transformers, adding that it would also help the environment by reducing carbon footprint.
He informed that the individual can avail at the subsidized rate of INR 50 per bulb and 3 bulbs per family by producing any of the documents such as Aadhar, ration card etc.
The teams will reach respective villages from April 24 to May 5.
The campaign is being organised by Kohima District Administration in collaboration with EESL.
