Dimapur, March 10 (EMN): New market women organisation (NMWO) observed the International Women’s Day on the theme “Innovate for change,” with Nino Iralu, district and session judge, Wokha, as the speaker at New Market (Ser) area panchayat hall, Kohima, on March 10.
Speaking on the theme, Iralu said a woman is both strong and intelligent and has unique thinking abilities of nurturing children, youth and family to take them forward in society.
Stating that behaviour of a child is influenced mostly by mother, she reminded the crucial role and important responsibilities of women in both family and society.
“Set good examples to your children and your spouses and also give quality time to your colony and your society,” she appealed.
Iralu advised the womenfolk in the colony not to remained inactive but engaged in work activities such as making traditional knit wears or shawls so that children might follow their examples instead of remaining idle or becoming additive to electronic devices like mobile phones.
As New Market colony is located in the heart of Kohima, she encouraged the women to generate income through many ways like selling vegetables and food items in the streets and colony.
She further cited examples of the many rights intended to protect the women and children by the Indian Constitution and distributed different handouts to the participants for substantive legal literary and awareness on women and children that were translated in Tenyidie by the Nagaland state legal services authority.
Earlier, Kekhrie-ii Tepa invoked God’s blessings, while the welcome address was delivered by Pelhouzetuo-ii Rame, president NMWO, and Ruokuoneinuo Nakhro presented the treasurer’s report.
Rokobeizo Nyusou, chairman of New Market Area (Ser) panchayat, and Nini Lasuh, coordinator of Sisterhood Network, also spoke on the occasion. Swedezhono Tsükrü chaired and delivered the vote of thanks during the programme, while Neizelie-ii Kire pronounced the benediction.
