KOHIMA, JANUARY 31
Kohima Village Badminton Club (KVBC) organized a one-day badminton tournament today at Indoor Stadium, Kohima. The competition was held only for doubles wherein Beizo Solo and Kezhalelie Keretsü emerged as the champions after defeating Atsü-u and Zhabu Rutsa in the final match.
The third position was bagged by Avilie Mepfhüo and Akhrie Mepfhüo, while Vilar Solo and Vizosietuo Pienyü were placed fourth.Altogether 33 players including one female participant took part in the tournament which is the first of its kind organized by the KVBC. The match referee for the tournament was Amardeep.
Earlier, the tournament commenced with Fr Alex Vizo invoking God’s blessing, while Dziesetuo Suokhrie, Addl Director, Agriculture department, exhorted the players during the inaugural function.
In his address, Suokhrie advised the players to maintain a good health if they aspire to become a successful sportsperson. He also stressed on the importance of maintaining a sound and healthy mind inorder to achieve at the highest level in their respective sports discipline.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the convenor of the organizing committee Kethosituo Sekhose said that the tournament was organized with the aim to encourage badminton players within Kohima village. Meanwhile, Sekhose has also thanked all the players who took part in the competition.
