Kohima vill open wrestling championship on Apr 25

With the aim to promote and provide platform to the upcoming wrestlers of Kohima village, the Kewhizou Entertainment Team (KET) is all set to organize the first ever open wrestling championship for junior category (Below 25 years) on April 25 at Dapfhütsumia ground, Kohima village. The KET has taken the initiative in organizing the open wrestling championship, the first of its kind in Kohima village, keeping in mind that the village which was well known for producing formidable wrestlers in the past, has failed to produce distinctive wrestlers of late.
Addressing a press conference this afternoon at Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) office, Razhü Point, Kohima, the advisor of KET Kezhalelie Keretsü informed that over 30 junior wrestlers will be participating in the one-day wrestling event.
He further informed that the championship, though an open tournament, is confined only for bonafide citizens of Kohima village residing near and far. The open wrestling championship will be conducted in league-cum-knock out basis.
The ultimate winner of the championship will be awarded Rs 25,000, while the second, third and fourth place winners will receive Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 7000 respectively. The four losing quarterfinalists will also be given Rs 2000 each.
Apart from cash awards and citations, the winners will also get an opportunity to attend three months gym course at Amplified Gym, Kohima village, which is considered one of the best gym in Kohima.
The inaugural function of the wrestling meet will be graced by Khriehu Liezietsu, Parliamentary Secretary for YRS, NRE, MTF and chairman DPDB, Kohima, as the chief guest, while the closing function would be graced by Neivor Rutsa, chairman Kohima village.
The chief marshal for the championship is Neilazatuo Khezhie, while the referees are Kevisetuo Suokhrie, Kezhalelie Keretsü and Neilhoukhotuo Kire, the judges are Kiyachülie Belho, Khriezo Dzüvichü, Neiziengulie Rame, Khriesalelie Solo, Pfulikhrie Keretsü and Keneizhalie Kire; the announcers are Kiyapfhelie Kire and Zapuvizo Liezietsu; the time keepers are Neikehetuo Kire and Ruokuovituo Sote; the recorders are Pelesatuo Khezhie and Neilavonyü Rutsa and the first aid will be taken care by Razouvolie Kuotsu.
The chair tickets are priced at Rs 300, while the gallery will be made open to the public free of cost. The entry fee is fixed at Rs 500 for an individual wrestler, while the last date of form submission is April 24.
The KET hopes not only to provide platform to the upcoming wrestlers, but also to do justice to the wrestling fans by making the wresting championship and annual event, the officials said.
The Kewhizou Entertainment Team was formed just this year with “Persist for Perfection” as its motto, and headed by Khriekethotuo Mepfhüo as the president.
The KET officials informed that it will thrive to provide the motivation needed for the junior wrestlers to become skilled wrestlers, while it also has plans to organize tournaments for other sports discipline such as Shooting and Chess tournament specifically for physically disabled persons.
