Kohima Super Cup: G-Sports FC, New Market FC win

Kohima, May 24 (EMN): G Sports FC and New Market FC won their respective league matches  on Tuesday at the ongoing Kohima Super Cup at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

G Sports FC beat Hurricane Boys Phesama  6-2 in the first match while New Market FC beat Sechu FC Academy  9-0 in the second match.

The winning teams also won the last league matches played with the same rival team on Saturday, earning a full point each.

For G Sports FC, Imlongchaba Chang scored a hat trick. A score each from Asito, Menguzelie Rutsa and Yami Longhav comfortably put them through to the next league match.

The other two goals for Hurricane Boys Phesama were scored by Abei Kar and Ruvisie Zashumo.

The second match was played between New Market FC and Sechu FC Academy. Noune Medoze scored a haul in the 34th, 45th, 56th and 76th minutes. To add to the credit, Nyithong Magh scored a brace in the 22nd and 51st minutes. Kevisanyu Peseyie, Neithovilie, and Letkhokai Kuki also scored a goal each. Meanwhile, Sechu FC Academy could not manage to score any goal.

The organiser of the Cup, Kohima Town Club (KTC)  on Tuesday informed that the 3rd Xavier Rutsa Memorial Trophy will be played between KTC and Kohima Press Club (KPC) on May 29 (Sunday) at IG Stadium Kohima after the second semi-final round.  

The event, a friendly football match between the two clubs, is organised as a tribute to the late Xavier Rutsa, who was one of the founding members of both the clubs, KPC informed.

On May 25 quarter-final matches will be played between Aphuyemi FC and A Yhome FC at 11:30 am; and Magdaline coaching FC against Barak FC at 1:30 pm.
