Kohima qualifies for stage-II of smart cities award contest
Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): Kohima Smart City is one of the two cities from the Northeast to qualify for stage-II of the India Smart Cities Award Contest 2020.
India Smart Cities Award Contest was launched by the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) on August 25, 2020, to evaluate cities on their performances and achievement of project proposals and innovations. The competition aims at rewarding cities, projects and ideas promoting the spirit of smart cities mission on the theme “Building cities for people”.
“A mandatory task set by the MoHUA for all the 100 smart cities, Kohima is amongst the only two Northeast cities along with Agartala to have qualified in the Top 66 cities selected for the second stage of the contest,” an update from CEO of Kohima Smart City Development Limited Kovi Meyase informed on Saturday.
Meyase has expressed confidence that Kohima city would continue to move towards achieving further sustainable development goals and towards making Kohima a more liveable city.
Kohima cross country cycle race
Meanwhile, the Kohima Smart City Development Limited has successfully organised the 1st Kohima cross country (XC) cycle race, which was flagged off by the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab A.
The cross country cycle race was in continuation of the India cycles for change challenge, which is an initiative of the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, government of India, to create a national cycling revolution across the country in the wake of Covid-19.
The prizes were sponsored by Krank Hub, Pusa Printing Press, Aravalli Enterprise and Manom Wallim, DSP Traffic.
The first prize was won by Kevilebo Zhotso (13 minutes), while the second prize was won by Yamet Leinak (16 minutes), and the third prize was won by Avitu Casavy (16 minutes and 7 seconds). Prizes were handed over to the cyclists by RD Peseyie, secretary of Jotsoma village council
