Kohima police nabs two persons for extortion

Two alleged extortionists arrested by the Kohima police on August 21.

Dimapur, Aug. 22 (EMN): Kohima police arrested two alleged extortionists along the National Highway 29 near the Old KMC dumping site on August 21 at around 11 pm.

A police report issued by PRO Kohima DEF stated that they were extorting from one truck and forcibly snatched away the driver’s wallet containing INR 2000 along with two mobile phones.

The two extortionists have been identified as Zhoviho Hibo (32) from Khuzama village and resident of Lower Lerie colony, Kohima, and Joseph Konyak (29) from Tanyu village and resident of AG colony, Kohima.
The report further stated that a case has been registered at Sechü (Zübza) police station for further investigation.

Akida lauds Kohima police

All Kohima Indane Distributors’ Association (AKIDA) has lauded the Kohima police personnel for displaying exceptional courage and valuable service to the society in arresting dangerous criminals thereby restoring public peace, tranquillity, security, and justice in the land.

Akida issued a press release stating that two habitual highway robbers assaulted one LPG truck driver and his handyman on July 4 below M/s Belho Gas Service Godown, NH-29, in Kohima. It also mentioned that the two miscreants snatched away two mobile phones worth INR 15,000 after they failed to meet their monetary demand.

Akida also stated that the Kohima police arrested one Khusato Keyho on the spot.

It also stated that three miscreants severely assaulted two drivers of another LPG truck parked at the same area on July 9 at around 1 am as an avenge for the arrest of Keyho. It reported that the miscreants had demanded to produce UG tax receipt and that on failing to produce it, the drivers were asked to pay an amount of INR 3,000 and were later beaten black and blue.

The miscreants also reportedly seized their two mobile phones worth INR 11,000 and also cash of INR 200. It also alleged that the miscreants had threatened and challenged them to report about the incident to the police and get them arrested as was in the first case on July 4 before they left the site.

Akida stated that the Kohima police, district executive force (DEF), district intelligence branch (DIB) headed by SP Kohima along with the colony youth leaders of Merhülietsa and Paramedical colonies have arrested every member of the highway robbers involved in the two incidents. It further stated that all of the arrested criminals are booked under appropriate sections of the law.
