Kohima police nabs 4 extortionists

Four persons arrested by Kohima police on charges of extortion.

Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): Kohima police arrested four persons on charges of extortion from different locations in the past one week.

According to a police report issued by PRO DEF Kohima, two persons were arrested from a construction site near NBCC, New Secretariat area, Kohima, on June 16.

The two persons were arrested by personnel from North police station during an operation following receipt of information of some unknown miscreants extorting money.

The arrested were identified as Ase-o Kense (27) from Touphema village and resident of Phezouchz colony, Kohima, and Mongchao Khiam (29) from Nokhu village in Tuensang district and resident of Thizama village, Kohima.
The report stated that a criminal case vide Kohima North PS Case No. 0019/2020 has been registered against them and remanded to police custody for conducting further investigation.

In another incident, Kohima police arrested one person on June 12 during a raid conducted at Lower PWD colony. The persom was arrested based on specific information about extortion on Manipur-bound trucks by unknown miscreants along NH-29.

The arrested person has been identified as Viketouzo @ Baby (37) and resident of Lower PWD colony, Kohima. During the raid, police recovered 16 mobile phones, 10 nos. of GPRN work permit, one pistol, cash amount of INR 12,120 and a vehicle bearing registration number NL01C-4135. The report added that another accomplice of the accused identified as Renpemo Tsopoe (24), a resident of Midland colony, Kohima, was also arrested on June 17.

It added that a criminal case vide Kohima North PS Case No. 0018/2020 has been registered against them for further investigation.
