Kohima police hauls in 12 kg of opium in two days

Dimapur, Sep. 20 (EMN): Kohima police personnel manning at Khuzama inter-state check gate on Thursday arrested four persons with five kg of opium.
According to a statement from the Kohima police, the recovery was made when the cops intercepted a vehicle carrying the consignment at around 7 pm. The arrested persons were identified as Letkholal Guite, G Seikhohao, Neijahat, and Lhaineikim Haokip.
“The illegal contraband was found neatly wrapped in five packets of one kg each and concealed inside the vehicle when recovered by the police…the value of the seized contraband is estimated to be worth approximately (INR) one cr. in the international market,” it claimed.

In another incident on September 19, another vehicle was caught transporting eight kg of opium at the same police check gate at around 10.30 pm, it informed. “The illegal contraband was found neatly wrapped in eight packets of one kg each and concealed inside the vehicle when recovered by the police,” it informed.
Consequently, the occupant of the car, Naorem Suraj Meitei (aged 57) was arrested, it informed.
