The traffic police administration of the district has ordered owners and drivers of heavy vehicles to comply with new regulations concerning entry in the main town. Entry of heavy vehicles into Kohima town will be restricted from 8:00 am to 5:00 am with immediate effect, from March 1 till further orders. The Kohima police administration issued a notice on Friday stating that the new regulation was to maintain ‘free flow of traffic’ in the main town of Kohima. “Heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter the main town only after 5:00 pm and heavy vehicle(s) found flouting with the rules will be penalized as per Motor Vehicles Act,” the notice form the traffic administration stated.
