Kohima pharmacists elect new team

Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): The Kohima District Pharmacists’ Union (KDPU) has selected new team of officer bearers for the tenure 2020-2023 led by Kiyekhu Chophy as president and Zayiechituo John Kipu as general secretary.

The selected office bearers were declared by its nomination committee convenor Visopi Angami during its 18th general session held at the conference hall of the District Industries Centre, Upper Chandmari, in Kohima on November 25.

An update from KDPU general secretary Zayiechituo John Kipu stated that deputy director (pharmacy) from the Health and Family Welfare department, Khele Thorie exhorted the gathering on the ethics of pharmacy profession. He also advised the members to maintain unity among the members and discharge their duty with professionalism.

Kipu also apprised the gathering on the new development coming up in the department pertaining to pharmacy profession such as appointment of pharmacy inspectors under Nagaland State Pharmacy Council to effectively implement various sections of Pharmacy Act 1948 and Pharmacy Practice Regulations (PPR) 2015 including management of supply chain by the professionals.

KDPU advisor and district pharmacy officer (retired), Santu Thapa, spoke on behalf of the  retired members and thank the union for felicitating the retired members. He also urged the members to provide better pharmacy services to the people of the state.

The session was chaired by outgoing president Novivonuo Sakhrie, while the invocation was said Abenle.
