Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India, reinforced support and presented annual aid to the Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home (KODH).
On Monday, Amway presented an aid amounting to Rs 1.30 Lakh to Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home. The cheque was handed by Janbeni Awomi, Nagaland State Training Officer Amway India Limited to Neibanuo Angami, chairman KODH.
The association of AOF with Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home started way back in 2009, is the project sunrise partner AOF and also set-up a computer centre at the orphanage in the year 2013.Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India, has observed “Power of Five” an advocacy program to build awareness on Child Malnutrition in Kohima with the Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home today. This is part of the global campaign undertaken by Amway named “Raise your hand, fight global child malnutrition.
On this occasion AOF also organised annual health check-up camp for the children of the Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home , where Dr. Joyce Angami check the inmates of the home.
Speaking on the initiative in Kohima, Diptarag Bhattacharjee, Vice President, Eastern Region, Amway India, said, “Amway Opportunity Foundation is committed to the holistic development of the less-privileged section of the society. The idea behind ‘Power of Five’ is to sensitize people towards importance of Nutrition in those critical initial five years of child’s life.”
KODH Chairman, Neibanuo Angami stated: “We are thankful to Amway India to be part of the awareness campaign against child malnutrition. Amway Opportunity Foundation has been supporting us in the holistic development of our children. The computer centre set up by Amway Opportunity Foundation for the children of Kohima Orphanage will empower them with IT Education”.
It may be mentioned that as a part of the global advocacy programme ‘Power of Five’ to build awareness on the issue of child malnutrition, AOF requested all present on the occasion to come forward and provide colourful handprints to a global mural. For every colourful handprint Amway will donate US$1 summing up to a total of US $ 400,000 to CARE International towards the support of underprivileged children.
Employees and distributors of Amway India along with children of Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home pledged their support to eradicate childhood malnutrition from India.
