Kohima municipality issues Juvenile Justice

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7: The Kohima Municipal Council has issued a notification stating compliance to an order of the district’s administration for the local departments to implement provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
The note was in pursuit of the deputy commissioner’s memorandum and the Social Welfare department’s memorandum notifying departments in concern to take necessary measures to ensure implementation of a number of provisions under said Act.
The provisions prohibit misuse of children by activities as specified by the provisions of the law.
The provisions are (given verbatim)
a) Section 77 Whoever gives, or causes to be given, to any child any intoxicating liquor or any narcotic drug or tobacco products or psychotropic substance, except on the order of a duty qualified medical practitioner, shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend up to one lakh rupees
b) Section 78 Whoever uses a child, for vending peddling, carrying, supplying or smuggling any intoxicating liquor, narcotic drug or Psychotropic substance, shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to a fine up to one lakh rupees. This is to therefore, inform all concerned and the general public to adhere to the above provisions.
The notice was appended by Kovi Meyase, administrator of the Kohima Municipal Council.
