DIMAPUR — Two separate no-confidence motions against the chairperson and the deputy chairperson of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) have failed after a scheduled meeting on Wednesday lacked the required quorum, according to official orders issued by the deputy commissioner of Kohima.
In official notices, the Kohima administration confirmed that meetings convened on Wednesday at 12 noon for consideration of motions against Chairperson Neikhozo Suokhrie and Deputy Chairperson Khrielievi Chusi could not proceed.
Out of all elected members, only six were present, which fell short of the quorum required—more than half of the total number of elected members—under Section 15(2) of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023.
As a result, both no-confidence motions were declared null and void, and the proceedings stood dissolved.
Accordingly, the orders stipulated that Neikhozo Suokhrie and Khrielievi Chusi will continue to hold their respective offices as chairperson and deputy chairperson of KMC.
