Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): Out of the total 110 cities across the country, Kohima city has been shortlisted among the top 25 cities in the Cycles4Change challenge.
This was confirmed by the CEO of Kohima Smart city, Kovi Meyase, during a conversation with the Eastern Mirror on Tuesday. Meyase informed that there would be further online presentations about their initiatives and scale up plans and strategies to a panel of judges in the ministry.
He stated that depending on the presentation, the top 11 shortlisted cities would be eligible for a bonus of INR 1 crore to put their plans to task. He also urged the citizens to lend their support to the initiative to help transform the city to a cycle friendly city.
A tweet from the Kohima Smart City read that Kohima City has been selected among the top 25 cities in the country in the Cycles4Chaneg challenge. The finalists would be doing a presentation before the jury and upon which top 11 cities will be declared as winners, it added.
The challenge was announced on June 25, 2020, by Hardieep Singh Puri, Minister of State (independent charge), MoHUA, at the 5th anniversary celebrations of the Smart City Mission.
The 25 cities in the finalists included Aurangabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Davanagere, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Kakinada, Kochi, Kohima, Nagpur, Nashik, New Delhi, New Town Kolkata, Panaji, Pimpri Chinchwad, Rajkot, Sagar, Silvassa, Surat, Udaipur, Vadodara and Warangal.
