Kohima Institute of Music to organise ‘Go-to Fest’ on October 23
KOHIMA — The Kohima Institute of Music (KIM) is organising ‘Go-to Fest’ on October 23 at The Heritage, DC Bungalow in Kohima from 10:30 am onwards. The event is being organised to mark its 10th anniversary.
Coordinator of KIM, Temjen Jamir, said that the one day event will focus on giving importance to roots and foundation where there will be cultural programmes and display of traditional attire with students giving brief explanations to the attires.
Jamir, who has been organising varieties of music events in the past, said that the fest will include different genres that can cater to all sections of the people.
The fest will witness music educators from South Korea, Delhi, and Guwahati who will engage the audiences with multi-disciplinary workshops covering church hymnal for pianists, effective classroom teaching for music educators, and drum rudiments for drum enthusiast.
Around ten schools from Kohima will also compete for the ultimate choir and solo (voice and instrumental) category.
School Students of Class-12 and below can participate in the open art competition at the venue and win prizes, Jamir said.
The festival will also feature cultural shows, museums, dance fitness sessions, performances by music students and teachers, works of local artisans and entrepreneurs.
Various centres will also be set up at the venue including Margaret Shishak School of Music, Patkai Christian College and Educentre.
The event is curated by the Kohima Institute of Music, powered by TaFMA and partnered by RSL awards India, with Beat Devices as sound partner.
Proprietor of Imchen’s Art School, Moa Imchen, said that his art schools in Dimapur and Kohima look forward to giving quality education to students.
