Kohima gears up for World Music Day

Kohima is all set to celebrate the 2nd edition of “World Music Day 2017” on June 21 at the Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima. This was announced at a press conference at Dream Café, Kohima on Friday.
The event presented by Symphony Production/ Symphony Academy of Music in collaboration with Indihut, SAN Production, support and Kohima Music Community.
“This is the second time in Kohima that we are celebrating with some of the renowned musicians in Nagaland. The artists are performing for free,” Melekhoto Pucho said.
As musicians, we feel the responsibility of celebrating World Music Day as the birth day of music and therefore, giving music a treat to the audience, and further to bring the music community under one roof, stated one of the organisers.
The line-up includes Search and Found (SFN) band from Dimapur who were the winners of the last year’s Hornbill International Rock Contest. The event will also feature some of the most popular artists in Nagaland like, Polar Lights, Lords of Rock, Technicolors, Virie, Pezet & Vikhrie, Bokato, Mengu Suokhrie, Tuden, Metet Jamir, Kusazo, Jonathan Yhome.
The show is set to start from 4 p.m. onwards with a nominal entry fee of Rs 50/- and will see the performance from the local artists singing their originals and covers at the show.
The Fête de la Musique, also known as Music Day, Make Music Day or World Music Day is an annual music celebration that takes place every year on June 21. The concept of an all-day musical celebration on the days of the solstice was originated by the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang. The festival later became celebrated in 120 countries around the world.
