Kohima gears up for bye-poll; DEO calls for free and fair election
Dimapur, Oct. 1 (EMN): In connection with the forthcoming bye-election to the 14th Southern Angami-I assembly constituency, District Election Officer (DEO) of Kohima Gregory Thejawelie, who is also the deputy commissioner (DC), held a meeting with nodal officers at the DC’s conference hall on Wednesday.
Chairing the meeting, the DEO apprised the officers on the conduct of the by-election to be held on November 3 and the election process, an update from DIPR informed.
He said that the meeting was convened to ensure preparedness for the smooth conduct of the bye-eection. He encouraged the assigned officers to be well versed with the instructions and guidelines given by the Election Commission and to execute their roles and responsibilities in a systematic manner during the election process. He also called on them to give their best efforts in their respective assigned duties with the right approach to ensure free, fair and successful conduct of the by-election.
Assistant election officer Toshimeren highlighted the work distribution for the conduct of the election. With regard to postal ballot, he informed that because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the commission has given special provision for elderly people who are above 80 years of age, suspected people or positive people to franchise their votes through postal ballot. He also informed on other new guidelines on mobile app, general management, polling personnel and others for the conduct of the bye-election as instructed by the Election Commission.
Nodal officers for by-election to 14th Southern Angami- I AC
District Election Officer (DEO) of Kohima Gregory Thejawelie has appointed nodal officers for the forthcoming bye-election to the 14th Southern Angami- I assembly constituency.
SDO Daniel Angami has been appointed for manpower or personnel and training management; superintendent of DC office Neibou Angami – control room and complaint management; SDO Shaying Sheu – transport management, to be assisted by DTO (Transport) and DPO (LR); Additional Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa and Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Kezocha Vineikho Tetso – EVM; RO Kelevituo Nisa – MCC; SDO, Sechü-Zubza Tiayanger – postal ballot and ETPBMS; SDO Daniel Angami – dispatch and receiving of polling parties; Additional DIO (NIC) Temsunaro – dashboard and poll day sms monitoring; assistant manager of State Co-operative Bank Kevi Hibo – election expenditure monitoring; AEO Toshimeren Aier – counting, to be assisted by CAWD; DIO (NIC) J G Lorin – IT applications; AEO R Toshimeren Aier – polling material; EAC of Kezocha Vineikho Tetso – observer; and CMO Dr. Vizokholu Theyo – medical.
Training for returning officers
A training was conducted for returning officers, assistant returning officers, assistant expenditure observers, district-level master trainers and IT officials by national-level master trainers on September 24 and the 25th at the deputy commissioners’ office conference hall in Kohima.
