Kohima for music at RCEMPA, Jotsoma

Come June 21, the State capital Kohima will join the rest of the world in celebrating the World Music Day at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma.
The announcement was made this evening by the organizers during a press conference held at Dream Café, Kohima.

On the day, renowned Naga musicians will assemble at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, to perform at a concert held in honour of the day. Prior to the concert which begins at 4.30 pm, a free choral workshop and a free music class would also be held at 1 pm at the same venue. The choral workshop would be conducted by Vimezo Iralu, while the music class will be presented by the Symphony Academy of Music, led by its director Mele Pucho, who is also the chief organizer.
This year, being the first ever that Kohima is commemorating the world’s annual music day, the chief organizer expressed high hope that music lovers from across the State will turn out in good numbers to celebrate the day.
The featuring artistes are Alobo Naga And The Band, Divine Connection, Polar Lights, Dexterians, Metet Jamir, Moatoshi Jamir, Oren Mozhui, Kusazo Rhakho, Girls Excess, Rodeo Clowns, Vimezo Iralu, Pezet Newme, Bokato, Virie & Zaza, Gideon, Avilie, Noune and Atso.

Another important highlight of the event will be the participation of Purple Fusion (featuring Moatoshi Jamir) at the concert, to pay a special tribute to late Lamtsala Odyuo, the lead vocalist of the band who breathed her last on June 1.
The organizers also informed that there will also be a selfie contest on the day, wherein, the winner will win an acoustic guitar.
The one-day event is being organized by the Symphony Production in collaboration with Music Task Force, Government of Nagaland. It has been informed that the Parliamentary Secretary for MTF, Khriehu Liezietsu will grace the day’s programme as the chief guest.

For the choral workshop and music class, one may contact +919774929679. The organizers have also informed that free bus service would be provided for pick-up and drop-in. The pick-up timing is 3.30-4.00 pm at Badminton Stadium, near Raj, Bhavan, Kohima.
The press conference was also attended Theja Meru and Obed Kath, vocalist of Divine Connection, among others.
