Kohima emerge overall champion of Inter-District GHSS and GHS Tournament

MERIEMA — Kohima emerged as the overall champion of the two-day Inter-District Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) and Government High School (GHSS) Tournament, which concluded on Wednesday.

Multiple events were organised for both boys and girls at Meriema Ground, IG Stadium, and P Khel Indoor Stadium in Kohima during the day.

In the girls’ category of the 100m race, Khrotshou from Kohima secured the first position, followed by Thiurailiu from Dimapur in second place, and Hoingaiching from Chümoukedima in third place. In the 200m race, Lamdeihoi from Chümoukedima took first place, followed by Chimmushe from Kohima in second, and Prolü Lohe from Phek in third.

For the javelin throw, Chekeleu from Phek secured first place, followed by Jailen from Dimapur in second, and Heiziuyile from Peren in third.

In the badminton singles, Y Theila Phom from Longleng claimed the first position, while Pougkem N from Mon secured the second position.

In the badminton doubles event, Y Theila Phom and Ladong Phom from Longleng clinched the first position, while Meriyanim Jami and Nehumbeni O Jami from Wokha secured the second position.

The Kohima team, consisting of Visanole, Rokovino, Keneikhrienuo, Kekhriekuonuo, and Kevipfenuo, emerged as champions in sepaktakraw. Meanwhile, the Mon team, comprising Ayet, N Leitoh, Nyamloi W, Nepe E Konyak, and Eunic, secured the second position.

In the boys’ category, in the 100m race, Keduhoto Zao from Kohima secured first place, followed by Imkongwapang from Mokokchung in second, and Nikavi Yeptho from Dimapur in third.

For the 200m race, Keduhoto Zao from Kohima took first place, with Hamvai Phom from Chümoukedima in second, and Tekhewehi Wezah from Phek in third.

In the javelin throw, N Paugam Phom from Mokokchung clinched first place, followed by Veraku Hoshi from Phek in second, and Nenti Kath from Tseminyu in third.

In the badminton singles event, Khinu Vero from Kohima secured the first position, while Phowang from Dimapur claimed the second position.

For the badminton doubles, L Nungsang Ltr and Chonbenthung Kikon from Peren clinched the first position, with L Hekham Phom and John T Phom from Longleng securing the second position.

In sepaktakraw, the Tuensang team, consisting of Ngaku Somba, T Hongkong Choba, Thungti Mongba, Imti Choba, and Menya Sipong, emerged as the champions. Meanwhile, the Phek team, comprising Mhasheku Kezo, Shekudu Resuh, Mhasheneyi Curhah, and Verukri Nakro, claimed the second position.

Athletes from GHSS and GHS, representing the 16 districts, participated in the two-day state-level tournament, funded by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland. Thavaseelan K, the principal director of School Education, presented prizes to the winners.
