Kohima DTF penalises 173 people for flouting Covid-19 SOP

Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): With the third wave of coronavirus looming large amid rising cases in the country and the state, the Kohima District Task Force (DTF) on Covid-19 conducted a drive in the state capital on Friday to check if people were following the protocols, especially mandatory wearing of face mask and penalised more than 100 defaulters.

The DTF comprising district administration, Kohima Municipal Council and Police personnel carried out the drive as part of enforcement of the existing orders, standard operating procedure (SOP) and guidelines for preventing the spread of Covid-19, according to an update by DPRO Kohima.

It informed that exercise was conducted under four teams led by magistrate in-charge in various areas within the town.

‘During the drive a total number of 173 challans were issued to the defaulters and were imposed with a fine of INR 200/- as per the given rate fixed by the government. In order to create awareness on the importance of wearing face mask in public places, work places and during transport, the teams also distributed face mask to the individual found without the mask,’ read the update.
