Kohima DPDB meet highlights ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ vision

DIMAPUR — The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting on Monday at DPDB’s conference hall. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of DPDB Kohima district, Shanavas C.

The meeting was also attended by the elected members of the district including Advisor of School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome; Kevipodi Sophie, MLA, and Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso,MLA, a DIPR report stated.

After reviewing the last meeting minutes, the board took up the agenda of society registration and decided to recommend Elevate Foundation, Tekhuliesha, Secretariat Road, to the government for further necessary action, whereas Tamlu Bühü Union, New Secretariat Road, was referred to the next meeting after taking necessary clarification.

On the Vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ – Development of the National Cooperative database, Rokovisa Chasa, deputy registrar of co-operative societies, highlighted both the national and state scenarios. He informed that as per the national scenario, a total number of 8.50 lakh cooperatives (credit cooperatives and non credit cooperatives) were recorded. While in the state, he informed that a total number of 8,877 cooperatives were recorded out of which 1,541 societies were registered in the district.

Chasa also highlighted the State Level Apex Cooperative Federation, training and education, and also the activities taken up in the district. He further apprised the members of the need to have a National Cooperative Database.

Executive engineer, Power, Shiludi Longkumer, gave a presentation on the Standalone Pre-Paid Meter where he informed that there are 940 pre-paid customers out of 54,000 plus customers in the district.

The board deliberated on the issue and felt that more awareness needs to be created on the advantages of the pre-paid system so as to reduce expenses and generate more revenue for the government.

Senior Technical Director and DIO, NIC, JG Lorin Rengma, also informed the house about the Digital India Week scheduled from July 25 to the 31st and requested the members to visit the district website and get themselves registered on the portal for necessary action.

The Kohima Municipal Council was entrusted to present its departmental activities in the next DPDB meeting.
