The first of its kind Kohima district volleyball clinic organized by Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) started on Monday at IG Stadium, Kohima.
Around 30 trainees turned up for the first day session, which is conducted under the watchful eyes of two international volleyball referees from Manipur.
The first introductory session was conducted by Romeo Singh, an international referee from Manipur. The other referee is Baleswar Singh. Balweswar happen to be the first international referee from North east India.
In his introductory remarks, Romeo Singh said that to be sportsperson, one should know the rules and regulations of the games thoroughly and most importantly should strictly adhere punctuality. He said that volleyball game consist of six fundamentals. The Ccmpetitive teams master six basic skills: serve, pass, set, attack, block and dig. Each of these skills comprises a number of specific techniques that have been introduced over the years and are now considered standard practice in high-level volleyball. informed that there are 28 rules in the game of volleyball.
The trainees will be taught both theory and practical classes in the coming next five days which will end on August 29.
KVDV President Visasaielie Souhu, in his address said that to conduct the volleyball clinic was one of the main aim and objectives of the association and expressed happiness that many trainees turned up for the referee clinic. He also advised the trainees to be attentive in attending the classes regularly and maintained strict discipline.
