Mount Sinai HSS to face Loyola in final today
Kohima, July 8 (EMN): Mount Sinai Higher Secondary School will clash with Loyola School, Jakhama in the final of the second edition of Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament at the Khuochiezie ground in Kohima on Monday.
The valedictory function scheduled to be held at 1 pm, will be attended by MLA Neikiesalie Kire, advisor for Rural Development as the patron.
The tournament is jointly being organised by Royal Club Kohima in collaboration with the department of School Education and Youth Resources & Sports.
On the way to the final, Mount Sinai has remained undefeated throughout the tournament. They have so far scored 10 goals and conceded three goals, Dougunglal with four goals and Toshisungzung with three goals.
While Loyola has scored 18 goals with Vinongol Luho leading the goal tally with seven goals and Keduhoto Zao in second with four goals.
However Loyola lost a match against Mt Sinai in the Pool finals from a goalkeeping error. The team should be worried about the goalkeeper Luho who has conceded two goals in the previous matches.
The champions will walk away with INR 70,000, while the runner-up will be awarded a cash prize of INR 40,000. The two semi-finalists i.e. Northfield and Chandmari HSS will receive INR 20,000 each. Player of the tournament, the ‘best cheering school’ and the best disciplined team, will received also INR 5000 each.
30 schools within Kohima district participated in the tournament namely The Vineyard School, Bethel HSS, TMGHSS, Don Bosco HSS, Mt. Hermon HSS, Loyola School, Grace HSS, Christ King HSS, Don Bosco Tseminyu, Holy Family HSS, Charity School, St. Paul Phesama, Mt. Sinai HSS, Dainty Buds School and Rüzhükhrie GHSS, GHS Rüsoma, St. Mary’s Cathedral HSS, MHBHSS, Khedi Baptist HSS, Baptist High, Chandmari HSS, BM School Jotsoma, Mezhür HSS, GHSS Jotsoma, Stella HSS, Northfield, Dr. Neilhouzhu GHSS, CD King HSS Jotsoma, Mt. Carmel and G. Rio.
