Kohima district GHS/GHSS one-day tournament held

KOHIMA — The one-day Tournament 2024 of Government High Schools (GHS)/ Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) under Kohima district was held at D khel ground, Kohima, on March 8.

The tournament, organised by the District Education Office (DEO), Kohima, witnessed a total of 16 GHS and GHSS comprising of about 180 athletes taking part in various sporting events.

All the winners will represent the district in the upcoming inter-district GHS/GHSS tournament scheduled to be held on March 14 and 15 at Kohima.

DEO Kohima Emilo Patton, in her address, said that education is a process of learning and that lessons can be learned from all aspects of life.

Maintaining that games and sports have become an integral part of a student’s life, she told the students that the value of sports cannot be overlooked as it helps in the overall growth and development of students.

The programme was led by Patricia Vizo, ADEO, Kohima, who also handed over the awards to the winners.

Earlier, invocation prayer was offered by Thepfusetuo, PET, GHS Rusoma, while oath taking was administered by Neilazetuo PET, Dr. N Kire GHSS Seikhazou.
