DIMAPUR — The Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) organised a felicitation programme for Nagaland Football Team (40+), champions of the 6th National Masters Games 2024 held at Goa.

Former bureaucrat and president of Nagaland Veteran Football Association, K Kire, who was the special guest of the programme, congratulated the team for bringing laurels to the state.

Recounting how the association was formed 13 years ago, he said many veteran players are so committed to the game even today, meeting the expenses to attend the tournaments for veterans by paying from their own pockets.

He added that the government should cover some of the expenses as they played for the state.

“I really wish the sports department has some funds reserved for not only the Olympic disciplines but even other competitions like this masters games. Players from the state have been participating in the event since 2019 but at their own expenses,” he was quoted as saying.

He said that such a move will enable not only football players but sportspersons from other disciplines to participate in such events.

President of Nagaland Football Association and executive member of All India Football Association, K Neibou Sekhose also congratulated the players for bringing laurels to the state. He also thanked those working behind the scene and organising the felicitation programme in their honour.
