Kohima diocese golden jubilee begins with reception ceremony
KOHIMA — The long-anticipated golden jubilee celebration of the Kohima diocese began on Friday with a reception ceremony for delegates and bishops, both domestic and international, at the Mary Help of Christians Cathedral in Kohima.
A large congregation of faithful led by the bishop of Kohima diocese, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, received the delegates. The reception ceremony also witnessed a spirited performance by the brass band of St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
Later, the congregation, consisting of faithful from across the state, filled the Cathedral for the “Holy Rosary and Confession” service.
On Saturday, the programme would include a mass at 9:30 am, unveiling of the jubilee plaque, Holy Eucharist, a Marian procession, and a cultural night with the Governor of Nagaland as the special guest and the Nagaland Chief Minister as the guest of honour.
The Sunday’s programme would feature Holy Eucharist at 9:30 am followed by a jubilee feast.
