  • DIMAPUR — Kohima and Dimapur advanced to the final of the 5th Late G Rio Memorial Men’s U19 Inter-District Cricket Tournament after registering semi-final wins on Saturday.

  • According to an update from the Nagaland Cricket Association, Kohima secured a three-wicket victory over Wokha in the semi-final played at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chümoukedima.

  • Opting to bat first, Wokha were bowled out for 106 in 30.1 overs. Yantsothung S Humtsoe top-scored with 28 off 28 balls. Kohima’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings, with Solomon Awungshi taking 3 for 19 in 8 overs and Vizoletuo Zhale claiming 3 for 21 in 6.1 overs.

  • Kohima chased down the target in 22 overs, scoring 110 for 7. Seyievizo Zaputou remained unbeaten on 32 off 56 balls, guiding the team to victory despite early setbacks. Wokha’s Krishna Kumar returned figures of 3 for 24 in 10 overs.

  • The Player of the Match was Solomon Awungshi.

  • Dimapur won by six wickets over Niuland in the second semi-final at Sovima Cricket Ground, Chümoukedima.

  • Batting first, Niuland were dismissed for 112 in 41.3 overs. Jeetender top-scored with 32 off 85 balls. Dimapur’s Samir Ali took 4 for 14 in 7.3 overs, while Medempok Pongen bowled a tight spell, finishing with 3 for 15 in 9 overs.

  • Dimapur reached the target in 35.4 overs, scoring 114 for 4. Shyerinlo led the chase with 32 off 68 balls. Niuland’s bowlers took wickets at intervals, with wickets shared among Rohan Kumar (1/8), Suit Kumar (1/21), Jatin (1/24), and Darsh Choudhary (1/25), but the total was not enough to defend.

  • The Player of the Match was Medempok Pongen.

  • The upcoming final will feature Kohima against Dimapur on April 21 at 9 am. The match will be held at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chümoukedima.

  • M Khairul Jamal Majumdar, a member of the BCCI, will be the special guest for the final.
