Kohima, Dimapur bid farewell to DCs

DIMAPUR — The Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting-cum-farewell programme, in honour of the outgoing Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Shanavas C, at DPDB’s conference hall on Monday.

The outgoing DC, in his speech, thanked all the district officers from various departments and the people of Kohima district for the unflinching support towards various achievements made during his tenure, a DIPR report stated.

Shanavas said that it was through the untiring efforts of the officers working as a team that many important events and development activities could be carried out smoothly and successfully.

Stating that Nagaland still needs progress and development in many areas, Shanavas urged the members to be more sincere and dedicated in executing their duties with meritocracy.

He also encouraged the officers to be firm and wise while taking decisions and not to compromise on their duties and responsibilities.

He said that the best is yet to come and asked the members to cooperate with the incoming DC to move forward.

Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA, who also spoke on the occasion, acknowledged the outgoing DC for his selfless services rendered to the district.

On behalf of the district officers, short speeches were delivered by Rokovisa Chase, Dy. Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Kohima, and T Lanusenla Longkumer, Administrator of Kohima Municipal Council.

Both the officers described the outgoing deputy commissioner as one of the best administrative officers who understood the locals, was very humble, sincere and supportive in executing and managing the district affairs.

The officers said that his absence will be felt and also wished him all the success in his new assignment.

The farewell programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rhosietho Nguori, while EAC, Kohima, Moasunep Jingru, presented a special number.

Earlier, in the DPDB meeting, chaired by DC and vice chairman of DPDB Kohima, Shanavas C, the house reviewed the minutes of the last meeting and on the agenda of ‘Adoption of box cutting area’ put forward by the Association of All Kohima Municipal Ward Panchayats (AKMWP).

The house deliberated on the topic and agreed to issue approval letter with necessary terms and conditions, after proper consultation with the administration and Kohima Municipal Council.

SDO  and chairman of District Screening Committee, Pichano Kikon, presented the new rules and regulations for registration of societies, which were approved by the board.

PowerPoint presentation on departmental activities was given by AK Premkumar, Coy Commandant of Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF. The CMO office was entrusted to present the departmental activities in the next DPDB meeting.

Meanwhile in Dimapur, a farewell programme in honour of outgoing Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, and Revenue Officer (RO), Thejavizo Nakhro, was organised by district administration in the conference hall of DC Dimapur, on Monday.

The outgoing DC, in his address, shared that he had served as DC in three districts of Nagaland but noted that during his stint in Dimapur, he gained a lot of knowledge towards his professional career, a DIPR report stated.

Noting that he has had a very contended and comfortable journey as DC DImapur for one year four months, Sachin thanked the officers, NGOs and the people of Dimapur for their love and cooperation.

He further assured that he will continue to serve the people to the best of his ability. It may be mentioned that Sachin will be taking over as Commissioner of Taxes, on promotion.

Incoming DC Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, sought the cooperation of all the officers and civil societies for working together in order to make Dimapur a better place to live in.

Speaking on behalf of district administration, ADC Dimapur, Mhalo Humstoe, described the outgoing DC as a smart, intelligent, young and dynamic administrator. She further noted the quality of emotional intelligence was what set him apart from the other administrative officers. His stint as DC Dimapur was short but very impactful, Mhalo added.

The ADC also acknowledged the talent of outgoing RO Dimapur and lauded the mature approach of the officer on any issues.

Commissioner Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, who spoke on behalf of the district officers, described Sachin as a responsible and a very composed person who works with a clear conscience. The CP also welcomed the incoming DC and assured full support and for working collectively.

Several speakers representing the Naga Council Dimapur, Business Association of Nagaland, DUCCF, Indian Red Cross Society and Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and others, in their speeches, also described the outgoing DC as an able and approachable administrator.
