DIMAPUR — The deputy commissioner (DC) of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, has issued a directive to all printing presses in Kohima regarding restrictions on printing pamphlets, posters, etc., as governed by Section 127A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

According to a DIPR report, it has been emphasised that these provisions must be strictly adhered to during the general election to the Lok Sabha in 2024.

In accordance with the stated provisions, all printing presses in Kohima district have been instructed to clearly indicate the names and addresses of the printer and publisher on any election-related materials they print.

Also, printers are required to submit three copies of the printed materials, along with the declaration obtained from the publishers, as mandated under Section 127A(2), to the DC Office Kohima within three days of printing.

It further stated that any violations of Section 127A and the directives issued by the commission will be taken seriously, and stringent actions, including the revocation of printing press licences under relevant state laws, will be pursued.
