Kohima areas will face scheduled seven-hour power shutdowns from September 14 to October 1 for transmission line maintenance.
DIMAPUR — Several areas in and around Kohima will face scheduled power shutdowns from September 14 to October 1 as the Power department undertakes vegetation clearance and maintenance work along 33kV transmission lines.
According to the department’s Kohima Transmission Division, the shutdowns will be carried out from 9 am to 4 pm on the scheduled days to facilitate the work.
The department stated that the shutdowns are necessary to carry out vegetation clearance and maintenance of the transmission lines and to help prevent unwanted disruptions and ensure a more stable power supply.
The first shutdown is scheduled for September 14, affecting the NU Meriema area, IG Stadium area and Thizama area.
On September 15, the shutdown will affect the NU Meriema area, IG Stadium area, Thizama area, parts of Kohima Village, Rusoma and Chedema villages, Lerie colony and parts of the Southern Angami area.
The Lerie colony and parts of the Southern Angami area will face a shutdown on September 16.
The schedule will then move to the Zubza and Lalmati areas, with shutdowns affecting Lalmati, Zubza and Duilumroi SHP from September 17 to 22 on different feeders.
On September 23 and 24, parts of the Southern Angami and Chozouba areas will be affected by the shutdown of the RESS Kohima–Chakhabama feeder.
The Northern Angami area will face a scheduled shutdown on September 25, while Chiethu, Botsa and Poghuboto areas will be affected from September 26 to 28.
The remaining shutdowns are scheduled for Zhadima area from September 29 to October 1, covering different feeders.
The department has appealed to consumers and the public in the affected areas to cooperate and bear the inconvenience during the shutdown period.
