Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): Knight XI Thahekhu emerged as champions of the 4th Unity Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament after beating Thahekhu Veterens by 13 runs at the Chümoukedima local ground on Fri. Feb. 1.
The tournament was organised by the Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima Sports Ministry from Jan. 24 till Feb. 1 with 12 teams taking part in the tournament. Held under the theme ‘Solidarity for Peace,’ the tournament aimed to nurture and develop their sporting skills. The sports ministry also aims to make use of sports to strengthen friendship and to bridge the gap between cultures and communities.
The main guest of the closing ceremony was Kumar Subba, Chairman Dimapur Gorkha Union as guest of honour, Imsu Longkumer, V.President NPP Dimapur state as the special guest and Jonathan Rongsen, Nagaland Cricket team captain as the special invitee.
The winning team walked away with cash prize of INR 30,000 along with running trophy while the runners-up received INR 20,000.
Vishal of Thahekhu Veterans was named the best bowler while Jintu of Knight XI Thahekhu was adjudged the best batsman. Mughavi of Knights XI Thahekhu was awarded player of the tournament.
