DIMAPUR, AUGUST 7: KOHIMA Law College (KLC) final year students led by professor-in-charge, Kezhokhoto Savi, conducted citizen rights awareness campaign on August 7 at City Church Kohima. During the campaign, citizen rights including National Food Security Act 2013, Lokayukta, Food Safety & Standard Act 2006, Consumer Rights, RTI, Child Protection and Environment Protection were highlighted by the team consisting T Florence Sangtam, Peter Mhonlumo Y Patton, Chiekerho Nyusou, Vito G Sema, Toshitula Jamir and professor-in-charged Kezhokhoto Savi.
The team appealed the gathering to support the establishment of Lokayukta in the State considering it as the need of hour to do away corrupt practices in the State.
KLC team also highlighted the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013 and advised the citizens to know their due shares as beneficiaries and added that their awareness would help the State department to implement the Act in a more effective manner.
It was informed that Food Safety & Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) has been established under Food Safety & Standard Act 2006 to regulate manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import of the food articles to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food for consumption.
